WELDING COORDINATION TRAINING (ISO 14731)

• Welding Engineering Training is a diploma program consisting of theoretical and practical parts, with a total duration of approximately 500 hours.
• The training is delivered by instructors who are experts in welding technology and welded manufacturing.
• During the course, special seminars are organized on technical topics such as WPS (Welding Procedure Specification), PQR (Procedure Qualification Record), and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers standards).
• Candidates success is evaluated through written, multiple-choice, and oral examinations.
  • All exams are conducted using the international question bank prepared by IIW/EWF.
• All candidates who successfully complete the program will be awarded:
• International Welding Engineer (IWE)
• European Welding Engineer (EWE) diplomas and the International Welding Engineer (IWE) stamp.

• Candidates who hold at least an ISCED Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) diploma in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) fields may apply for the Welding Engineering Training.
• Applicants are required to document that their transcripts include courses such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Materials Science. Candidates who meet this requirement may be directly admitted to the Welding Engineering program and become eligible to receive IWE/EWE diplomas.
• STEM Bachelor’s graduates whose transcripts do not include one or more of these courses may still be admitted to the program if they can document at least 3 years of professional experience in metalworking or welding within the last 5 years prior to the application date. These candidates may also become eligible to receive the International Welding Engineer (IWE) and European Welding Engineer (EWE) diplomas.

The duties, authorities, and responsibilities of a Welding Engineer are defined in the EN ISO 14731 standard. Welding Engineers are responsible for ensuring welding coordination, evaluating the suitability of procedures, providing technical oversight of welded manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with quality requirements, and managing production activities in accordance with relevant standards.

This area of responsibility covers a wide range of sectors, including steel and aluminum structural fabrication, railway vehicles, the production of pressure vessels and boilers, thermal, hydroelectric, and nuclear power plants, refineries, industrial facilities, pipe manufacturing, natural gas and oil transmission lines, and the automotive industry. Depending on the applicable standard or product group, the level of welding coordination personnel required for the project is determined by technical requirements.

Candidates who complete the Welding Engineering program are expected to possess advanced technical knowledge in welding technologies, analytical evaluation skills, and professional competence to apply engineering decisions in accordance with relevant standards.
